7 Kitchen Trends Southern Designers Predicted Would Be Everywhere In 2024

They say that the kitchen is the heart of the home, and for good reason. We invest a lot of time in the cooking area, so it’s no wonder that they have such a big impact on both our state of minds and the resale value of our homes.
Mixed Fixtures
Why match when you can blend it up? Hardware and lighting have the power to alter the whole feeling of an area– so make the most of it rather of just letting it blend in. “Eclectic and vintage hardware and lighting add so much personality to an area– I love blending traditional-style hardware and contemporary cabinetry doors,” states Brittany Zachos, founder of her namesake interior design firm with an office in Sarasota, Florida.

Practical Storage
” Simply concealing things away in cabinets is no longer a choice,” states Laura Botelho, creator of her name interior decoration company in Dallas, Texas. From surprise spice pull-out drawers to device garages to butler’s kitchens, she predicts that whatever will have its designated place in the cooking area.

Katy Kindred, co-founder of Kindred Studio in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a fan of lower drawer storage and floor-to-ceiling cabinets so you can “leave more space on upper walls for art and enjoyable lighting moments.” This is the surprising pro of a hyper-organized area: When you produce designated storage locations, you can be tactical about making the most of design details.

Moody Colors
All-white cooking areas had their moment to shine, and now it’s time for rich, dark hues to have a turn. Zachos is a fan of cabinets in greens, reds, and midnight blues, as well as counter tops in black, green, and burgundy tones.

Declaration Range Hoods
” Every cooking area requires a centerpiece, and the variety hood is making a comeback as the function in the kitchen areas again,” Botelho says. “We’ll see range hoods in drywall, shiplap, board and batten wood, metal, or perhaps brick or stone.” Such a component sends a message: I take my kitchen seriously.

Asymmetry
Cooking areas are generally created with balance in mind, but Kindred states that an area that’s a bit off is right on pattern. The innovative usage of color, pattern, and negative space produces delightfully unforeseen centerpieces. In your own kitchen area, this might mean a shelf on only one side of the island or a mix of vertical cabinets and horizontal drawers ideal beside each other.

Warmer Earth Tones
As discussed before, white-on-white cooking areas are out– instead, according to Leigh Spicher, National Director of Design Studios for Ashton Woods Homes, individuals are choosing “warm, neutral color schemes that relieve our senses.” This ranges from creamy whites to dark forest greens.

Botelho sees this being integrated in natural wood kitchen cabinetry, reclaimed wood in open shelving and cutting boards, stone countertops, and the fabrics covering your windows, tables, and seats.

Stone Backsplashes
Zachos is noticing a great deal of smooth stone backsplashes (often coupled with floating shelves), flaunting the bold patterns and colors.

” Stone backsplashes utilized to be seen in more modern-day, minimalistic cooking areas,” discusses Botelho. “We’ll see more homeowners opting to extend their stone countertops up the wall to create a smooth, structured look and actually display the lovely style and veining in the stone.”
